Record in ReqTrans with zero quantity causes error in Planning optimization

Dear community members,

from time to time we find faulty records in ReqTrans table. Those records contain no item number, no quantity and refer to a plan version /0/. Here's an example:

When Planning optimization is enabled those records prevent the master planning to be executed from explosion or net requirements:

We have already been in touch with MS support and they provided an SQL query to select and delete faulty records from ReqTrans table. But it's not an ideal solution if we have to run that query every few month, not knowing how those records are created in the first place. So if anyone of you has experienced the same issue or has an idea how to prevent that from happening again, your help would be highly appreciated!
I have the same question (0)

    Hi Lennart,

I haven't seen this behavior myself. Do you know if you have customizations in this area? How many times does this happen in your environment?

    Hi Andre,

we have added some fields from PurchTable and SalesTable to the Net requirements form which are updated when MRP is run. But so far I have not connected those extensions to our issue. This is only the second time it has happended during the past three years, in two different legal entities. But due to the fact that more and more of our legal entities will implement D365 in the coming years, I have the fear that we will face that issue more often.

    Hi Lennart,

In the initial question, you mentioned "from time to time". Now you mentioned that this happened "only the second time". I do understand you concern when you would do a rollout and the root cause is unknown. In theory it can happen more and more.
I can't judge if your customization can be related or not. You can review it. You can also set alerts when records will be created without an Item ID. In case it would happen again, you can get notified and probably you have then some fresh information to check for a root cause.

    Hi Andre,

thank you for your suggestion. I will set up an alert and see if I can see any correlation once the issue occurs again.
