Hello everyone,
I hope someone with experience in publishing an app through AppSource can me with 2 outstanding questions that I have for which I have not been able to find any answers for.
It is my understanding that together with the extension app, a test app that is separate from the app extension has to be provided.
1. I am guessing that the test app has to reside outside our ID range (7XXXXXXXX) and instead should be in the custom range (5XXXX)?
2. When it comes to the dependencies of the test app (there are 2 for now; the extension it is going to test and the BC test toolkit), do I provide them as separate app files in the Library App section or does it suffice by just stating the dependencies in the app.json file of the test app?
Thank you for any help, it is much appreciated.
Brad, I do have other dependencies but all of them are to apps in the test toolkit.
Inge, thanks for the information. I am soon done with the test app so might as well go with it :P
Adding a test app is no longer mandatory for an AppSource submission. But the submission pages in Microsoft Partner center does not reflect that. What i normally do is just to add my app file twice. Both as the app file and the test app file.
That being said. You should have a test app but Microsoft does not require them for your AppSource submission anymore.
Hi,
If your app doesn't have any dependencies, and the test app only depends on the main app (you do not need to include the MS Test Apps) - you only need to upload those two apps.
Thanks for your repy Brad,
1. Got it!
2.
"If the dependency is the offer app then it'll be used from the Technical Configuration section (where you place your app)"
- Not sure if I got this.
There is a section where I upload the actual app and one where I upload the test app. There is an additional section where I upload library apps (dependencies for the actual app, which I do not have).
In my test app, there is a dependency to the actual app (and the test toolkit, but this part I got from the reply above).
Should I just upload the actual app and the test app separately for it to work or do I need to include anything with the test app for it to be able to run successfully?
Thanks for your help.
Hi,
The Test App is not distributed through AppSource and would be in the range of 50000..99999 (I personally use the 81000 range).
In your offer setup, the Test App goes in the Supplemental Content-> App Test Automation section. You do not need to include the standard MS Test Libraries. If the dependency is the offer app then it'll be used from the Technical Configuration section (where you place your app)
