Adding Portal - Guidance/Training

We are anticipating having a need for a portal.  We have added a trial portal to our tenant.  Next....

Do you have a list of blogs or Videos on what steps we should go through in order to understand a portal - what we can configure - what not.  I have my URL - which shows the populated trial.  How do I modify it.

I need to understand

  • Settting up security
  • Logon
  • Showing forms we have in our Dynamics

And much much more....

    Could you advise what we should do if we cannot see any of our users as Contacts in CRM? From the blog post linked to by Diane above, it seems that my user (me) should have been created as a contact when the portal was installed. Should I add myself manually if I'm not there, or what is the best practise for adding CRM users as contacts?

    Thanks for your feedback to all. For clarity, I found the "Portal Contact" option in the drop down menu by clicking the small arrow next to the "Contact" title whilst on the contact entity. I hope that helps others who have not yet discovered this little nugget!

    Hi

    If you are in Contacts form, and not able to view the Web Role tab, try to switch to Portal Contact form.

    Or

    Open the contacts from within the Portal area.

    Hi Diane,

    Open the contact record to whom you want to assign the Web Role, you can see Web Role option in navigation menu. Click on the Web Role and in the grid select Administrator role from there and then logout (if already logged in) and login again in the Portal there you can see the Administrator option there.

    Else you can also open the contact record in Portal Contact Form in that you can find the Web Role grid under "Details" Tab 


    Make it as verified, if it helps you solve your problem.

    "Configure Portal Contact Web Roles

    In order for your User account to configure the Portal you will need to assign the Administrators Web Role for the corresponding Portal Contact record that is created during the installation. Navigate to the Dynamics 365 Contacts, you should be able to find the Contact record that corresponds to your user account. The Portal Contact form will have a Web Roles tab, Check it has the Administrator Role, If not you can add the web role as shown below;"

    I found my contact record but there is no Web Roles tab.

    Any suggestions on maybe a step I missed?
