Using NAV in a hospital setting

We are a small hospital working on implementing NAV for our GL, AP and materials management. I am wanting to know if there are any other hospitals using NAV and if you would be willing to give us some guidance on a few items? For example how to handle stock and non-stock inventory?

    Hi JM7070,

    Thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forum.  I don't see where any customers or partners have posted a response to your inquiry.

    From my perspective as a support technician for Microsoft Dynamics NAV, you could handle stock and non-stock inventory either through a separate Location Code; or, you could have all inventory stored in the same locaiton but use a different Inventory Posting Group and different Inventory G/L Account to manage the separation of stock vs. non-stock inventory value.  It probably depends upon what you are attempting to accomplish for managing the non-stock inventory. Do you track quantity and value of this and use it periodically in the business - it's just that you don't sell it?  Or, is there some other process required that I am not aware of?  

    These are things that you should discuss with your partner as part of the needs analysis of the business so you can formulate a clear plan for managing the functionality.
