taErrorCode table missing for company databases eConnect 2016

I found today the taErrorCode table is missing for our company databases.

A few months ago we upgraded to eConnect 2016 with the hotfix that resolved the message queue reading problem.

From the reading I have done it looks like should be using the table in the DYNAMICS database but it is looking for the table in the company database instead.

As a test I exported the taErrorCode table from DYNAMICS database to the company database.

The error in the event viewer "Invalid object name '<company_db>..taErrorCode'." when away and was replaced with a real error code.

Anyone else had this problem?

Ron

Ron, in my GP 2016 deployment the taErrorCode table is in the system database and not the company. I believe this table has always been in the system database.

You that say "it is looking for the table in the company database instead". What is "it" in this context?

    Chad,

It is the Dynamics eConnect service that processes eConnect messages from MSMQ.

I agree that the taErrorCode table is normally in Dynamics database.  However, I found when I submitted a SOP creation via eConnect I got the following "Invalid object name '<company_db>..taErrorCode'."  When I copied the taErrorCode table from Dynamics database to the company database, I got the real error which turned out to invalid document type.

Do you have the full content of the error? Usually an eConnect error provides this structure as an example, along with more details : "Error Number = 9127  Stored Procedure= taPoLine  Error Description = Duplicate Order".

    Chad,

    This is the whole event.

    Action:

    Create

    Current User Name:

    Input parameters:

    Exception type:

    Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.eConnectException

    Exception message:

    Invalid object name '<company database>..taErrorCode'.

    Stack Trace:

      at Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.ServiceProxy.HandleSqlException(FaultException`1 ex)

      at Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.ServiceProxy.CreateEntity(String connectionString, String xml)

at Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.eConnectMethods.EntityImportImplementation(String connectionString, String sXML, Boolean isTransaction)

      at Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.eConnectMethods.CreateEntity(String connectionString, String sXML)

Once I copied the table across to the company database I got this error

    Exception type:

    Microsoft.Dynamics.GP.eConnect.eConnectException

    Exception message:

    Sql procedure error codes returned:

Error Number = 3441  Stored Procedure= taSopLineIvcInsert  Error Description = DOCID does not exist for document type

    Node Identifier Parameters: taSopLineIvcInsert

The eConnect error codes are not company specific and reside in the DYNAMICS database. If you happened to do a restore prior to your copying, that table would not be there. There is no reason to copy it to your company database.

    SELECT [ErrorCode],[SourceProc],[ErrorDesc],[ErrorKeyFields],[ErrorParms],[DEX_ROW_ID]

    FROM [DYNAMICS].[dbo].[taErrorCode]

    WHERE [ErrorCode]=XXXX

In your case 3441 means the DOCID does not exist for document type.

DOCID does not exist for document type

That is the point of the post.  I could not see the 3441 error until I copied the taErrorCode table to the company db because there is a bug the eConnect service code that the service is incorrectly looking in the company database for the error code information instead of the dynamics database.

My two hypotheses on this is that either something went wrong with your eConnect upgrade and either a Repair or a full Reinstall may be warranted. I don't give that hypothesis much weight, mind you. My second is to ask whether you have any Pre or Post procedures installed which are incorreclty seeking the table in the company database. Do you have any custom Pre or Post procedures?

What are your eConnect calls embedded inside? A VS C# project as an exe or dll? Sounds like something about the environment is causing this not eConnect.

We do not have any pre or post procedures installed.

I have been seeing other error codes since the most recent upgrade before I copied the system database.

It seems like an error with this specific error event.
