Error when navigating away from Dashboard

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

I have created several Dashboards in CRM2011 (on premise) for my client.

They all work fine, but when navigating away from the Dashboard to for example Quote or Order entity (by clicking in the navigation pane in the left) an error is displayed almost always (Its the generic error that allows you to send error report to Microsoft).

I have pasted the error message below, but it seems to me that it occures in a script that is not necessarily 'man made'.

This occurs for anyone using the dashboard, so its not related to me/my business unit.

Has anyone else experienced this, and how do i fix this?

    Are you using standard dashboard functionailites or have you created a webresource and added it as an iframe on the dashboard?

    Also check if your CRM url is part of trusted sites. If you're working with IE 10, make sure the website runs in compatibility mode.

    As a final check, disable IM presence in Settings - Administration - System Settings - First tab, second option.

    Appologies for the delay, and thanks for your suggestion.

    The only customization i have done is creating personal charts (by editing XML), but i dont see how that might cause any error.

    I have tried to recreate the same error in my test machine, with no luck (where i have imported the exact same charts).

    It seems like this error occurs when i change the the graph or the view in the dashboard and navigate directly to account, quote, etc.

    Both the client site and the test machine has the IM presence enabled, so i dont believe that to be the error.

    I disable the IM presence on the client's site, but the error still occurs.

    Hi  SHAMYLA KHAN,

    Are you facing this on Mozilla Firefox Only or is it on IE and Chrome as well?

    The test machine where you tried to recreate the error, is that machine on the same clients domain in a test environment or is that you imported the xml charts in your VM?

    Does this error occur in a test organization that does not contain these charts? Does this only occur with these custom charts? You may want to hit F12 and click start debugging. Reproduce the error and you might be able to see where this is breaking.

    I have done the following tests:

    •my VM with clients crm site: error occurs
    •my VM with test crm site: no error

    •clients machine with clients crm site: error occurs
    •clients machine with test crm site: no error

    This error does not occur in the test enviroment (where i just imported the custom charts).

    This error does not occur in the system dashboards on clients crm, but that might be because the system dashboards do not have the chart and view selection available (which refreshes the frame and can display large amount of data).

    Its safe to say that the error only occurs on the clients crm site, and is not limited to my charts.

    I have debugged the error and this is what it says:

    SCRIPT5007: Kan ikke angi verdien for egenskapen innerHTML: objektet er null eller udefinert (Cannot provide value for propert innerHTML: object is null or undefined)

    global.ashx?ver=-222729623, linje 6 tegn 60447 (line 6, character 60447)

    The function where the error lies is:

    ,$5M_2: function(){

    if(IsNull(this.$E_2)||IsNull(this.$E_2.parentNode))return;

    this.$E_2.contentWindow.document.body.innerHTML="";

    this.$E_2.parentNode.removeChild(this.$E_2);

    this.$E_2=null

       }

    It seems like its inside the CRM core, and not something that we should be messing with.

    If you are able to continually reproduce this, please go ahead and create a support case so that we can move forward with debugging this issue.
