SendGrid & Dynamics 365 CRM Integration

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hello! Recently I have been trying to figure out how to integrate my SendGrid account with Dynamics 365 CRM. I have tried a couple of solutions, but nothing seems to be working and I would love some help! Here is what I have tried so far:

http://www.powerxrm.com/xrmemailmarketing/

I imported this add on, but unfortunately it only seems to work with MailChimp. C/P the API Key does nothing for me here.

https://community.dynamics.com/crm/f/117/t/261209

I found this post before creating my own question, but it does not seem to give me much workable information. The only answer on the post links to the SendGrid web API documentation, but after following the link I am legitimately stumped on what to do next. What am I supposed to do with the API key? Where in Dynamics 365 CRM can I make the connection between it and SendGrid? Please feel free to explain this process to me like I'm 5 and have never interacted with the program before.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi there! Instead of wasting time and money on building your own solution, you can try out Skyvia. It's a third-party tool, which provides direct integration between Dynamics with Sendgrid (skyvia.com/.../integrate-dynamics-crm-sendgrid). The freemium model is available. Check it out!

    Hello tnunlist,

Sure thing, happy to talk more about this. Given the potential complexity (depending on what features you are looking for) it might be something worth discussing  outside of this community thread.

I've reached out to you in a private message if you are interested.

The long and short of it: building it yourself would require some C# (programming) and Dynamics 365 customization knowledge. You could create a series of plugins that send data from Dynamics to SendGrid. For an ISV to help you, it's difficult to give a price/effort indication at this stage,  without knowing more about the exact features you are looking for :-)

Thank you for the detailed answer Michel! I do appreciate it.

Can you talk to me a little bit about building an integration myself and how difficult that would be vs asking a Dynamics 365 (CRM) ISV to build one along with an idea of pricing/time/etc?

RE: SendGrid & Dynamics 365 CRM Integration

    Hello tnunlist,

There is unfortunately no native integration available between Dynamics 365 and SendGrid.
Dynamics 365 does not have any features to allow you to integrate with SendGrid out-of-the-box
SendGrid does not have any features to allow you to integrate specifically with Dynamics 365, only a generic API

    --

SendGrid makes its API key and API available so you can enable an existing integration built by someone else or build your own.

I unfortunately don't know of any integration add-on between Dynamics 365 and SendGrid, that has already been built by any third-party or Microsoft.

If it exists, it would be similar to the add-on your tried for MailChimp, an add-on solution, built by a Dynamics 365 (CRM) ISV*

    --

The options I see you have currently:

    1. Find an existing integration add-on that was built by someone
    2. Build an integration yourself
    3. Ask a Dynamics 365 (CRM) ISV* to build one for you

*) ISV stands for Independent Software Vendor, which in the Microsoft community is a company independent from Microsoft, that builds custom software as add-ons to existing Microsoft solutions, like Dynamics 365. Full disclosure: I work for for a Dynamics 365 (CRM) ISV.

Sorry that my answer is a disappointing one, there is no easy fix for this one.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
