Is there a report to run showing the cash receipts posted by date? I do not necessarily need to know what the cash was applied to. Just the amount posted by date.

You can use the Daily Cash Balance Report (20.610.00) with Detail option to know the Receipts and Disbursements with certain data range for the particular Cash/Bank account & sub account combination

You might look at the Document History>Summary report and select on ardoc.doctype = 'pa' and
ardoc.docdate > 01/01/2013
I changed the sort to this:
ardoc.cpnyid Group Field Yes Yes Yes
ardoc.docdate Group Field Yes No No
@refnbr_custid_doctype Group Field Yes No Yes
