Dexterity and TFS

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Recently Dexterity announced support for TFS and for this we are all grateful.  However, the initial release back in 2010 R2 supported only TFS 2010 (reasonable at the time).  My question is for Dexterity 2013 (v12), does the Dexterity and DSCCS support the latest version TFS 2012 or just TFS 2010?

Thanks,

Geoff Harding

Thank you Dave!  I agree with you, it will likely work with the 2010 client and 2012 server, which I guess was my original question.  I willl do some testing and see what we find.  We may not actually move to TFS until SP1 anyway.  Thanks again.

DSCCS still requires VS 2010 or Team Explorer 2010 on the client.

As far as the server goes, if you had TFS 2012 on the server, you would need the Visual Studio 2010 SP1 Team Foundation Server 2012 Compatibility GDR on the client to enable them to talk to each other.  It might work, we have not tested it yet, right now we are looking at GP 2013 SP1 before we claim compatibility.

At this time, Microsoft is not claiming compatibility for Dexterity DSCCS and TFS 2012.

Speaking based on my own personal experience, it appears that some changes will be required in the TFS provider for DSCCS to support TFS 2012. I don't know how extensive those changes will be, or what the time frame is for releasing them.
