If you're not technical then comparing the the XML might be a bit overwhelming. Nevertheless, in short, you need to extract the customizations.xml from any recent backup solution file (one where you know the Lead entity was working correctly). Assuming the Lead entity was part of the solution, you will find the "Lead" entity node.
Then do the same thing with a version of the solution file that contains the non-working Lead entity.
Then you need to compare the working and non-working xml to see if there are any differences which might be causing the problem. I'd strongly recommend engaging with a certified Dynamics CRM/365 consultant before modifying anything manually.
One other thought...have you tried doing a "Publish All Customizations" from the Default Solution?

Just a guess but it sounds corrupted. If you have a backup copy for your solution file, you could try comparing the XML structure for the Lead node from the old vs current.
Other thoughts...does it happen in different browsers? Have you tried cleaning the browser cache?
