ReportReport

I cloned our CU3 config environment and then upgraded from 2012_FP_CU3 to R2_CU6

I'm at the very end of the upgrade trying to deploy the SSRS reports and its giving me this error:

PS C:\Windows\system32> Test-AXReportServerConfiguration

I followed this article and it's got me nowhere:  http://blogs.msdn.com/b/axsupport/archive/2012/06/15/ax-2012-reports-fail-to-deploy-on-a-server-hosting-multiple-sql-server-reporting-server-instances.aspx

You should know that all references to AX assemblies after the R2 upgrade needs to have the version number changed from 6.0.0.0 to 6.2.0.0. Otherwise they won't work.

I would highly recommend these scripts. You can provide the version as part of the scripts and you should be up and running in no time:

as an option you could try to install to a new SSRS Instance with just R2 installers.

I deleted my report server databases and started fresh.  Then I reconfigured SSRS with configuration manager.  All was happy.  I could get to the reports and reportserver web links.

I tried to install fresh the R2 setup report server extensions and it still failed.  Here is the reason:

An error occurred during setup of Reporting Services extensions. Reason: Unable to back up the SQL Server Reporting Services encryption key. The operation failed with error code 2147945104.

So I tried deleting the encryption key and that didn't fix it.  Then I tried changing the key, and that didn't work.  What is going on?

The key normally gets invalid if the service account is changed. You can either restore a key, or you can simply drop the reportserver database and recreate it and then redeploy the reports.

I did that, I dropped the database and recreated it.  Then I reconfigured with the configuration manager and ran the setup again and it still gives that same error.  I can't figure it out...

Woah, check this out, just found this...  I was able to translate the page into English.

So I told the install to continue anyways.  It completed it looks like with minor warnings:

2013-11-13 16:43:42Z === Setup was completed with minor errors or warnings. For details see the previous messages in the log.

How can I verify that everything is working after it finishes deploying the reports?  What is a good test or two?

A good test is Test-AXReportServerConfiguration command:

    technet.microsoft.com/.../jj720250.aspx

As for the warning or error remark, it can be anyones guess. Need more info to say, really.

I would say  run a trial balance,  and also an invoice (to validate the correct deployment for reports with other languages).

as an extra take a look at this blog  community.dynamics.com/.../216371.aspx,  as it is related to posible problems with SSRS deployment.    just keep in mind you need an AX client installed on the same computer that the SSRS Report Extensions are installed.

Tommy S, can you explain a little more about these AX assemblies?  I'm not sure what were are talking about here.

I ran my tests after I got the reporting extensions installed and everything checked out.  The link for the AX assemblies scripts to change the version numbers appears to be a lot more than just changing the version numbers!

What are those four scripts doing and what are AX Assemblies?
