what is triggering AP Settlement if i didn't run payment proposal

Auto settlement active for AP, what i need to know is : when exactly the settlement take place between booked debits or payments vs invoices . is it run automatically once the debit or payment posted as a part from posting process or what . & if i stopped auto settlement to perform booking debits and credits on vendors in a random order , if i finished and return this parameter back, shall it proceed with settlement for all per-entered transactions automatically or shall i do anything further to activate

You can read more about settlements on Microsoft Learn: Settlement overview - Finance | Dynamics 365 | Microsoft Learn

There are three moments when settlements will be applied:

1) During posting of journals, e.g. Payment journal in case transactions are marked for settlement

2) Automatic settlement enabled on the parameters (both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable)

3) Settlement form opened from Vendors or Customers.
