E-mail error

Hi guys i've recently been having problems with Reports in Dynamics CRM 4.0 and after trying to resolve the problem i've edited something and i'm not sure what but its made it so that i can no longer send e-mail via the CRM which is a major problem for me.

Here's a summary of my setup (single server):

  •  SBS 2008
  •  SQL 2008 R2
  •  Exchange 2007
  •  MS Dynamics CRM 4.0

I have email accounts set up and i can send/receive emails through the outlook accounts to external e-mails (hotmail for example). However, when i try to send an email directly through the CRM i now get this error message coming up in my event log:

#61042 - An error occurred while processing the outgoing e-mail message with subject "test CRM:0001053" for SMTP: http://<External IP Address>/<CRM> for delivery through <SEVER NAME> System.Net.Mail.SmtpFailedRecipientException: Mailbox unavailable. The server response was: 5.7.1 Unable to relay
at System.Net.Mail.SmtpTransport.SendMail(MailAddress sender, MailAddressCollection recipients, String deliveryNotify, SmtpFailedRecipientException& exception)
   at System.Net.Mail.SmtpClient.Send(MailMessage message)
   at Microsoft.Crm.Tools.Email.Providers.SmtpPollingSendEmailProvider.ProcessMessageInternal(email emailMessage)
   at Microsoft.Crm.Tools.Email.Providers.CrmPollingSendEmailProvider.Run()

Any ideas how i can resolve this quickly?

Also when doing all of this i am now unable to access my companyweb(the built in SBS 2008 intranet) or any of my web applications so i'm thinking this may be an IIS problem?

I'm new to all of this and this is the first server i've built or anything so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Reece

Just a quick update on this post. I found out that the SMTP service had somehow been uninstalled (possibly due to uninstalling sbs sharepoint) however, i'm still getting the same message and on top of that the email router testing no longer works it just seems to hand when testing.

     Any ideas?

    Thanks Reece

    Hi,

Change the security for your smtp service to allow relay from your crm server.  If it is on teh same box, you may need to allow relay from 127.0.0.1 and in addition to its own ip address.

HI alex thanks for the reply.

I've found a temporary workaround by usingthe 1and1 smtp mail server rather than the servers built in one. However, if you could tell me where i allow the relay i'll do that too as i'm sure it would be better coming straight off the exchange server. Thanks
