[CRM4.0] Filter the lookup content

Hi,

I created a new entity and defind two attributes - Country and City .

The entity has data like this.

Country     City

Japan        Tokyo

Japan        Osaka

America     NewYork

America     Washington

I'd like to put these attributes on the Account entity and when users select a Country ,I want them to see filterd values on the City attribute.

For example, when users select Japan they see Tokyo,Osaka on the City attribute.

How can I manage that?

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Aki

    Hi Aki,

In the subject you mention lookup. This makes me think that you do have a lookup for country and a lookup for city. Both the lookups you want on the account screenn and if somebody selects a country, then the available cities should be only those linked to the same country. This can be done by using the addon of Stunnware (http://www.stunnware.com/).

In your post you are talking about two attributes though. This makes me think that you do have two picklists which contain countries and cities. If this is the case, then you can filter the second picklist by using javascript. There is a great example available in the SDK.

     Hope this helps,

    Hi Ronald,

Thank you very much for your reply.

I'll check the example in the SDK.

    regards,

    Aki

Like many, I was suprised filtered lookup does not come out the box with CRM 4 and have read the many javascript and add on solutions like stunnware.  I would but the offering, but it appears the Stunnware solution won't work with Roll up 2, so I'm back to square one.

I've instigated a pseudo solution taken from http://forums.microsoft.com/Dynamics/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2827530&SiteID=27

which works fine for onChange events on the source field.  However, it won't work for a situation where I have already mapped through the record into the field such that the OnChange Event never changes.

Any client side solutions or other "easy" solutions for a novice like me?

     Thanks

     Jim
