Microsoft Dynamics RMS (Archived)

RMS to QB Interface reset after QB upgrade and move to another workstation

I have upgraded a client from QB2013 to QB2016 and moved the QB's company file to another computer.  I'm trying to set the interface back up for RMS (which has been working for years).  I can't get it to retrieve the company and apply the certificate in QB's.  I suspect I need to clear out some of the settings in SQL to get it to refresh completely.

So far:

I removed the QB option in Manager and set it to none.  In QB's I deleted the Integrated applications under company preferences.

** this was done before upgrading QB's to QB2016

Installed QB2016 on another workstation and updated the data file on that machine.  QB's is working fine

Changed UAC to lowest setting

rebooted

Open QB as an admin

Open Manager as an admin

Go back in and select QB2003 for accounting interface (the company information is populated already and I think if it were cleared out that would solve the problem)

Retrieve - gives an error (QB's already has a company file open...I close that message and eventually I get "This action cannot be completed because the other application is busy...choose switch to and get "Could not connect to QB's..." , click OK and then I can exit the configuration page but nothing is saved)

** I've also tried to close the company in QB's before choosing Retrieve - similar errors

Has anyone run into this?

I believe I could clear the information for QB's out of the configuration table in SQL and possibly clear the Accounting and Accounting Accounts tables and then it would reset.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Cindy

Loading it on the same machine as the database did the trick.  So much for logic.  Thanks!

    I have.  I also saw this: community.dynamics.com/.../166596

Which makes me think the reset might be an option to clear out the info that is in the table already.  Have you ever had to do that?

I'm installing on the same machine as the database right now as a test but logically it would seem that isn't needed because if they had the database on a true server machine it's unlikely anyone would run QB's from there.

You likely have already seen this - but just in case: support.microsoft.com/.../how-to-configure-the-microsoft-dynamics-rms-store-operations-quickbook

    Hi,

They are on the same computer but the SQL database is physically on another machine.  In practice that would seem OK.  I can try to install QB's on the same computer as the SQL database.

I do think there is a reset that needs to happen to clean out the prior information from RMS and repopulate the interface so it can get to the certificate step with QB's.

    Thanks,

    Cindy

Hi Cindy, are RMS and QuickBooks on the same computer?  Some times that is the only way to get the RMS to QB G/L interface to work - have both programs on the same computer.
