posted stock count trx to wrong date

Posted on by 6,775

How can you reverse a stock count trx that was posted to the wrong month? Can you back it out or void and then somehow repost again?

    Hi,

If you have the integration manager, it would be simple to use the item transaction table to build a reversing IV transaction by reading the actual inventory variance. You could then use this same source to 'repost' the transaction to the correct month. Like Adam said, it depends on how many lines you have. Sometimes you just have to enter it by hand. I would consider using a 'mail-merge' macro if you don't have integration manager.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie

    Hi R1012,

Did you post it all the way through inventory or just to inventory?

If it is posted all the way through, I don't know of a better way than to reverse it from inventory exactly the opposite of what was entered (with the same date). Then, re-key it.

While cumbersome, the reason I like this method is that the audit trail of the mistake is maintained so that any questions can be answered as opposed to other methods.

Depending on how large the transactions is you could potentially import or create the unposted reversal and new transaction using the data from history and only change the date but that is a judgement call based on the number of lines involved.

    Hope this helps.
