Change name from Account to Company

Hi

I would like to change the "account" name to company. This is possible in many ways, but when I have my views it still lists as "account" and not company. This confuses many users.

Display name is locked. Account should be "Company"

The display name of the entity can be changed and the second image is of a view which holds a lookup field of the account. You must have customization rights to make these changes. Check if you have system customizer role assigned to you.

    Hi Ahenn,

This may take a lot of work to make the changes globally. You want to start by editing the account entity and changing the display name for that, and that'll update things like the advanced find where you select the entity.

There are still going to be cases where you'll see Account instead of company. If you add add an Account lookup to your form and label it "Parent Account" or something, that won't be updated by changing the account display name. To find those cases, you can query the metadata for any labels that are Account and you'll have to change them one by one.

Hope this helps! I'd appreciate if you'd mark this as Answering your question.

    Thanks,

     Aiden

I have full adminstrator rights. I found out by removing "account" from my view and add "influential" it now says "Influential (Account)". I want to remove completly the "Account" as it confuses the users.

The display name is still locked. This is the only area were display name is locked, I can change in all others.

You should be able to change the name in most places by exporting translations, modifying the file and re-importing. In this case the lookup field should be on the Opportunity entity.

You can change display names of fields and their descriptions and form fields this way.

You can modify things like form, view and chart names by hand easily enough, and modify messages in the UI if you prefer (this includes things like error and warning messages such as "Are you sure you want to delete this Account?").

You do seem to have found one of the few places that I don't think you can change the display name - you can't modify this in the lookup field or relationship definition, and this field (along with equivalent for Contact) is not included in the translations file.

You can modify the display name on the Opportunity form.

In the view, you could replace with the name field from the Account rather than the lookup field from Opp. So for example this will display the column heading as "Company Name (Company)".

You change the "account" name to company with XrmToolBox, but you also have change the views with account.
