Creating Approval Automatically For Sales Orders

Hello,

I am trying to figure out if it is possible to setup a workflow or power automate workflow to create approval requests automatically when a sales order is created with a few filters. The filter is to prevent the trigger firing when creating orders manually. We have a customer portal hooked up to our BC instance and when the portal submits an order we would want it to automatically trigger the approval of the sales order for our sales and finance departments. My idea is to filter a workflow to look at the number series since orders coming from the portal use a different number series. From what I see so far, a person NEEDS to click a button for each sales order to start the approvals.

Right now, every order that comes in we have to trigger the approval manually so that finance gets the approval request to check the customer for anything that should block the order and then the sales department to check the sales order to make sure the items being ordered make sense for the customer (i.e. we have different machine types and materials that do not work together)

I have:
- looked in the workflow triggers and I do not see sales order creation as an option
- looked into power automate templates and updated the trigger to sales order creation but the trigger doesn't have the workflow trigger information to actually work
- googled to no avail
- searched in this community thread

I am open to ideas; I am just trying to see any options before going to our partner to discuss any type of customizations.
I have the same question (0)

I can't speak for power automate, but using the out of the box workflows in Business Central is not possible without some sort of customizations. The customization can be fairly simple, a simple job queue that loops through the sales orders every x amount of minutes.

While I agree it should be simple I am trying to make sure that I cannot do it in-house without the need of a customization from our partner.
