Workflow: Possible to set lookup from string?

Posted on by 55

I have a custom entity where the customer is identified both with a unique customer id in a string-field, and resolved in a partylist-field called «Customer».

We’ve also set up a workflow that creates cases based on the mentioned records being created - but we’re unable to set the «Customer»-field on case directly - since we can’t map it against any corresponding field on the custom entity.

I’ve been experiementing with actions, hoping to find a solution there - but so far no luck.

Is this something which can be solved without developing a custom plugin? Can it be done with actions?

No it is not possible now.

You have to use custom workflow activity or a plugin to achieve this scenario.

Thank you both for the replies.

Custom plugin/workflow is the way to go then!

    Hi Bjorner,

If you don't want to write plugin you can develop Custom workflow as well.

No, you  have to write custom code for getting customer based on the string which you can use for set customer lookup.
