How to update the existing Plugin or dll

Hi All,

How to update exsisting dll or plugin in CRM 2016 on premise.

I tried using SDK plug in manager to register the updated dll but getting below error.

Unhandled Exception: System.ServiceModel.FaultException`1[[Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk.OrganizationServiceFault, Microsoft.Xrm.Sdk, Version=8.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=31bf3856ad364e35]]: Plug-in assembly fullnames must be unique (ignoring the version build and revision number).

    Hi

    In Dynamics 365, plugin and workflow assemblies can be updated as long as

    name,

    public key,

    major version and

    minor version

    of existing and new assemblies are the same.

    I think you are registering a new assembly instead of updating old one.

    If you are still facing the issue, delete the old one and register it again.

    I am trying to update one of the existing assembly using "Plugin registration tool" for 2016 on premise CRM. How to do these. Can you please provide steps if possible.

    Hi,

    1. Log into Plugin Registration.
    2. Find the dll same name as your dll that you wish to update
    3. Click it
    4. click on update,
    5. browse to the  dll, select all the file,
    6. click update.
