Management Reporter - AD Login and 'sa' Login

My experience with setting up new users in Management Reporter is having to shadow the user when the first log in via their AD account and then having to open each company (in MR), log in as SA and save the password in order to get their sessions to work.  It was my understanding that once you set up a new user in MR all they need to do is simply open MR and no other credentials would be required.  Have I done something wrong with the setup?

GP 2013 SP2
MR 2012 v.2.1.7044.43

Any advice is greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

OK, so I did some more searching and found the same question from John Ellis: community.dynamics.com/.../190726

But I'm still confused as to if I do or do not need to login for each new user.  And is it only the SA account that can be used?  Or should the user's GP login work?

    Thanks.

You haven't done anything wrong.  MR checks that they have access to MR using their AD username that's set up in security but then it also checks that they have access to the database they are trying to generate a report for using their GP credentials.

Do they not have a GP login?  If they have a GP login, they can just use their own GP username and password for the database login.  If they check the save credentials box, it would be a one-time thing for each company.

Users always authenticate to MR security with AD credentials. If using the legacy provider (company codes end with -Curr), there is also an additional GP database credential prompt which it sounds like you are seeing. For this prompt, you can use either 'sa' or any other valid GP credentials. If you deploy the data mart provider instead of legacy, there is no additional credential prompt.
