I have a client who has received a Smartlist Builder renewal notice from eOne and is questioning the need to have the support contract. He does not think they are using this add-on to his knowledge and would like to know if there is a way to validate this. Is there a way to tell if it is being used by anyone in the company?
Thank you so much,
Dawn Berard

I'm going to agree with Richard, even if they have renewed for the next year, there is always next year.
You are right Jonathan, one would think the customer would know it they are using Smartlist Builder or not and this was the controller asking. You are also correct in saying just because it is installed doesn't mean they are using it.
Thank you Richard, the client decided to just go ahead and renew before I could try what you mentioned. I will do what you suggested so that I would know how to look in the future. Thanks again, Dawn
The customer should know if they are using Smartlist Builder. Just because it is installed really doesn't mean they are using it. To understand if a module is being used you first need to know what the module does. As Richard noted this is being used for creating Smartlists.
I would maybe read up on what SLB does and do some training to get further acquainted with the product.
Can you go to one of these computers that does have Smartlist Builder installed and then go into SLB to see if there are any there. You can also look in your company database to see if any tables exists that start with SLB. The ultimate test would be to ask your users which SmartLists, if any, they use. You go also just add SLB to the server and look there. Do this through Programs and Features.
Thank you Richard. I'm on the server now and don't even see that Smartlist Builder is installed here. I realize that it needs to be installed on individual workstations in order for the user to not only create reports but to also view reports that others have created. Do we have to ask all users if they use it? There is no other way to tell? Thanks again, Dawn
Smartlist Builder is used create customized SmartLists. Since you are receiving an invoice for renewal for SLB from eOne that means it was purchased back when it came from Microsoft. The only way to tell is to look at your current SmartLists and see if there are any that are customized. You could also go to Tools->SmartList Builder and click on the magnifying glass and see if any customized Smartlists appear.
