Cxml import-export routines Ariba and NAV

Hi all,

How can we setup a connection with Ariba through cXML's? Having in mind we are sitting on a Microsoft Dynamics NAV 2009 R2 SQL Build 32012 database. I am concerned about the communication setup. Does web services work with HTTPS as well?

What is your opinion on this?

I have put together the following drawing. Is this the way to do it? We don't need any kind of network folders to save files, in this case, yeah?

Thanks

    Hi,

Refer following link for Configuring Web Services to Use SSL (https) in NAV 2009.

Basically, you can always make an XML-port, using needed format and publish that.

    Yes. This is correct.

You can publish the web services from NAV end and can get the data inside NAV.

Similarly, you can access the Web Services, publised by Ariba and can push the data from NAV.

Pl. note, you might need to create staging database (or Tables) for the data movement as pushing data directly in NAV main table may not work at times (due to volume or validations).

Hi Vishal, I know that the following question is so general at this stage. I would appreciate your high-level estimate on this. How many dev days needed for this job? 5-10 days, 10-20 days? Thanks

This  depends on the data movement between two systems.

Normally we calculate 3-4 Man Days per each interface development  (upto 20 fields).

The more you built interfaces and add more fields, you need to add the Man Days accordingly.

We have built the interface between SAP & NAV (3 Master Data - Item, Customer & Pricing + 3 Transactions files - Sales Order, Inventory & Payment), in around 24 man days with all the scenarios, validations, testing & go live configuration.

Normally, functional time is more to completely understand the processes, define the complete approach etc.  Technical job is just to write the code in the system, which might not take more time.

    Hi Vishal,

Where can i find a documentation or something which proves that Web Servers with HTTPS can communicate with NAV Web Services?

    Thanks
