Does anyone know if there is a way to test a customer journey as you build it? At the moment, it is taking hours to test two or three tiles, each taking place at 1-hour intervals.

Thank you for the question.
In order to test e.g. email sending as soon as possible:
1) Set the journey "Start date and time" to your current time (in your timezone)
2) Use "test send" functionality in email.

Could you describe the issue you encountered in more detail?
As per my understanding, if we don't insert flow control tiles(schedule or trigger) between two tiles,
contacts will flow to next tile without interval.
And have you checked Time zone field of customer journey has been set to your local time zone?
e.g: if the field is set to GMT+7, and you local time zone is GMT+8, then you'll wait for 1 hour for customer journey to start.
