Afternoon All,

Long story short, I'm looking for a new multi-store (10 locations) epos system for the UK and it looks like the new version of RMS (due to be released later this uear in 2013) might be the ideal fit.  I know it is probably being re-branded but I wanted to know if anyone had anymore information on it?  Any specific features etc...Especially new confirmed features.

Thanks,

Marco

if 1 has the plan and other not access to customer source could it be upgraded as well ?

Does anyone have any info or timeline on when the next version of MS RMS (AXR) will be ready for people to test.  Even if it beta version.  I thought it was somewhere in Sept 2013.

Can anyone confirm or provide some insight ?  As a large user (250+ stores) of RMS we need to figure out if RMS is the POS system we want to stay with.

    Thanks

    Charles,

I responded to your email thru Linked In a couple of days ago..

Remember that the grass is always greener.  I suggest subscribing to AX and AXR blogs as they have their own problems.  MS is using AXR in all of their Microsoft stores, ~75

Jeff is right.  Microsoft did purchase RMS from SMS in CA.  I know this because we have been using this program since it was called QuickSell running on an Access db (way before MS bought it). SMS was a small company out in CA, and we would actually fly out there and collaborate on ideas, features, bugs etc.  No such luck since MS bought the product.  Considering we have almost 270 stores in North America using RMS.

FCASES - Thanks for the info.

Jeff & FCASES - would love to have your contact (email / phone)  info. Look me up on Linkedin.

RMS program was purchased by MS from SMS in Anaheim, CA in 1999ish.

AX was purchased by MS from a Damgaard, a Danish company, in 2002.  After MS re-sold the Retail add-on for a year-ish, they purchased the source code from the add-on vendor, that I think was Dutch. Pretty much the same with the HQ package.

RMS and AX are completely different in every way.

AX retail , LOTS OVERKILL but stable I assume, although as partner I do get to see that AX has problems as well...

I think ill write one from scratch , KISS

the problem with RMS is that they just give you core hooks methods, and anyone does what they want,

some prefix with AG_ other with theyr company name XYZ_ RMS prefixes with nothing, no indexes, so Database queries are lost in space...

AX in other hand has a programming language for it, learning curve is different but at least they stick you to standards, like an api...

I think ill try opsuite if they can fix the problem with transfers, as they do have loyaltee module + discount module as well integrated, but burned so bad ill need a year trial...

AX is for 10M+ even 50mill + businesses , HR module is non necessary for most, as well as production etc, etc,

can't wait for next gen , if they could only start showing what it will do so we can decide..
