Database Status inquiry NAV2009

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi Sir,

May I ask regarding NAV database status in our company? The current status is 98%. What will happen if the status reach in 100%? Will the NAV users create more transactions? Need your advice regarding on this.  Please see print screen for you to view the database status.

    Hi Magil,

    I agree with other experts,

For NATIVE(CLASSIC) DB you can do it manually..

For SQL You do not need to worry, just increase the size of DB from its property...

As alreaady suggested by other members, In SQL it is defaultly setup to grow by 10% which you can change from SQl Server Database Property window. In case of Native you need to Ater the size of database by adding no of bytes.

As Khoa Nguyen mentioned, the answer depends on whether your database is a native or SQL.

If you have native database, you can expand the database size by the needed size (tutorial.programming4.us/.../microsoft-dynamics-nav---expanding-the-database.aspx).

If you have SQL database, it depends on the settings you have. If the Unrestricted Growth option is not selected and the database has grown to its maximum size, then you can either select the Unrestricted Growth option or increase the maximum size of one of the secondary data files.

    Hi Magil,

Is it SQL database or NAV Native database? For SQL database, it is auto grow 10% by default.
