Mail Merge in Quick Campaign: how to add a Dynamic field to the email Subject Line?

Hi to all.

I am trying to create a Quick Campaign within a Marketing List using a previously created World MM template. For testing purposes, I have created a personal/individual Mail Merge template for it.

When creating this individual template, I had to upload the corresponding word mail merge document but in XML format (only possible option).

To create the quick campaign I am following the normal standard steps. Note: the issue I'm facing occurs both when creating a quick campaign or a "Mail Merge on List Members" directly from within the marketing (see below).

Next step when using option "Mail Merge on List Members":

Eventually I now get to the point where I see the template in Word. I now have the possibility to edit the text as I wish and add dynamic fields.

After editing my text in Word, adding the necessary Dynamic fields, I am now ready to star teh actual mail merge, i.e., sending out the individual emails.

My issue is that I want to have a personalised Subject line text. Using the dynamic field "short code" in the subject line doesn't work - the field doesn't render it's content (see picture below).

In normal Word Mail Merge there is the possibility of using VBA to include dynamic fields in the email subject line. However, by importing the word document as template into CRM as XML, VBA code is lost.

Anyone has an idea?

Many thanks in advance.

Antonio

You reference the fields from CRM when you set up your CRM template.

In 2015 you can do the following by clicking on Insert/Update > Add> selecting the field to include:

http://crmbook.powerobjects.com/basics/email-templates-and-mail-merge/ suggests that this functionality was likely to have been available in 2013.

It's possible however that this functionality was only introduced in 2013 and up until then Subject Line was only able to be static text.
