Looking for a way to show who prepared Journal Entry

I am looking to add a column to a current smart list which shows who originally entered the journal entry. We currently have a column that shows who posted the entry but for audit trail purposes we need to add a column showing who originally made the journal entry showing that the person who posts the entry is not the same person. Could anyone help me create or describe what I need to do to get this field in the report? Thanks so much in advance.

Thanks for your responses. If I add the "Last User" field, it changes those entries that have been posted to that persons name who posted them, so it does not really get the original preparer.

To use in a smartlist, and if you have SLB- (Smartlist Builder) you may want to explore using the 'Last User' field as an added level of tracking for the Journal Entry.

    Lrichards,

In order to capture that information I believe you need to turn on Activity Tracking. Dynamics does not store who originally created the entry in the GL tables. You can't do anything about the past, but going forward, if you turn on Activity Tracking you will be able to identify when a transaction was added to the Work file. IMPORTANT you must not allow transaction posting in GL because a transaction that is never saved, is not tracked. I think this should be changed, but that's the way it works.

You can find Activity Tracking in the System Setup area. You get the results in the System Inquiry area. You purge the tables in the System Utilities area.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
