Unable to share dashboard -- with system admin role

A user with system admin role created a dashboard. On clicking "Share, the below error is pops up.

And this doesn't happen with all users. Only few users.

NOte: the environment was upgraded from 2015 to 2016.

    From this message I would say it is a personal dashboard that was shared to them but that the admin was not given the ability to share the dashboard by the original user.  Personal dashboards like personal views are odd objects within the overall security schema for CRM.

    It is a personal dashboard. Only 2 users are facing this issue.

    FYI: the error pops up as soon as the user clicks on “share” button on dashboard.

    Is it a Personal Dashboard or System Dashboard? And I would also try with different User with Sys Admin account to see if it works for them.

    "You do not have share permissions  on any of the records you have selected. Therefore you cannot share the records". System view was used to create the dashboard.
