Is it possible to set up transit orders with a specific warehouse as a transit warehouse, but with ordinary goods receinving and picking at the warehouse that has been set as the transit warehouse for the transfer ordrer?

Impossible, because you cannot select Warehouse with Type = Transit in Transfer order function. But you still can use transit warehouse in another inventory journal (e.g. transfer journal, Movement)

    Yes,

Transit warehouse is used in transfer order by standard functionality, You can set the default Transit warehouse on regular warehouse, the same will be their on the transfer order header.

The flow of inventory is same as you mentioned.

Do you have any further question?

If you want to move inventory directly from Transit warehouse to another warehouse, Use transfer journal instead transfer order.

    Good day,

Can you maybe share something about the scenario? What do you want to achieve?

    Best regards,

@Laurens vd Tang we move goods from one warehouse to another, and use our central warehouse as a hub because of transportation. One truck moves the goods fom warehouse 1 to warehouse 2 (the transit warehouse) the first day. The goods remain in warehouse 2 until the following day og maybe several days later. we need to see that the goods are in stock, but in transition. When we need to move the goods from warehouse 2 to warehouse 3, we need picking lists for the warehouse, so they know what to load.

    Good day @SK-05031823-0 ,

Thanks for the explanation of the scenario. My advice is to use a standard warehouse for "Warehouse 2". If you need to execute a picking process, you should use a standard warehouse rather than a warehouse of the type "Transit".

    Best regards,

    Hello @SK-05031823-0

    Thanks for the requirement clarification,

As Laurens mentioned you can go for standard warehouse for warehouse 2, In this case you need to create 2 separate non linked transfer orders.

    • Transfer order 1 - from W1 to W2
      • Post Shipment from W1 - This will reduce the inventory from W1 and move the inventory WT1 transit warehouse for W1.
      • Post receipt in W2 - This will move Inventory from WT1 to W2.
    • Transfer order 2 - From W2 to W3
      • Post Shipment from W2 - This will reduce the inventory from W2 and move the inventory WT2 transit warehouse for W2.
      • Post receipt in W3 - This will move Inventory from WT2 to W3.

Another option is to keep the W2 as A transit warehouse. Here you don't have to create 2 separate transfer orders.

    • Single Transfer order from W1 to W3
      • Post Shipment from W1 - This will reduce the inventory from W1 and move the inventory W2 which have to configured as transit warehouse for W1.
      • Post receipt in W3 - This will move Inventory from W2 to W3.

Let us know which option is best suitable for you.
