GP2013 Web Client - Default Printer

Has anyone gotten a chance to experiment with Default Printer settings in GP2013's web client? The web client doesn't offer the same toolbar as regular GP with the Microsoft Dynamics GP button, Transactions, Reports, Inquiry buttons. So where one would normally go to MDGP > Print Setup, that is not available. When attempting to print a batch edit list to see if you can access the Print Setup from printing the report to screen, the web client will save the report as a file. So, you cannot print to screen or use a printer. Has anyone been able to locate the Print Setup window in the web client? Thanks!

    Hi Catherine,

Remember that web client is using the canvas printing now. So based on what options you have selected in the posting setup window is going to determine where the report is printed to.

The posting setup window options have the "?" box selected, so right now I can choose the print destination for each report. When I need to print a report to the printer, though, I cannot do so. It says 'unable to get printer context for report. Please check default printer'. This is where I do not where to go to setup / connect a printer. Thanks!

    Hi Catherine,

It sounds like you guys haven't ran the DynamicwGPTrustedApp.msi on the machine.

I am not sure what that file is... How, where and why would I run that?

    Hi Catherine,

The file is used to set permissions from GP web client, Silverlight and your computer. The file can be found at:

    C:\Program Files\Microsoft Dynamics GP\GP Web Client\GPweb

If you're getting "printing context" errors, some troubleshooting information for that can be found on page 77 of the Web Client Installation and Administration Guide. Essentially, you haven't done a required printing setup step that is required. That's explained on page 22 of the same guide.

Beginning with Service Pack 1, this printing setup step is no longer required. But, you're on the RTM version, so you'll need to do this setup step.

    Hi Steve,

In the Named Printers setup, you can set different reports for each module to print using a Printer ID. Do we need to perform the assignment for each of these reports? (For them to print in Web Client).
