Need To Move GP to A Users New Pc

I have a user that got a new pc and I need to migrate all of her programs and settings to the new machine.  I have no experience with GP and it has been a very long time since I have done any kind of data migration to a new pc.

It is my strongest recommendation to 'not move' the GP application.

Now having said that, installation of the GP application is not the simplest process, but again it is not that complicated if you allow the application to do most of the work.

Do you have any number of 3rd Party applications?  Are you running 'only core' modules?  Do you have any experience in the installation of the GP application?

If you have a fairly simple / straight forward  installation then once you get the first part of the process completed - the installation of Dexterity Components - you might consider copying the Microsoft Dynamics GP20xx folder from a working workstation over the the new machine.

If you have a number of 3rd parties, this is a time that I would recommend working with your local partner to complete this process.  We have a client that decided to install on their own about 5 months ago, and their internal IT is still trying to fix issues.  We were asked to install and correct 2 machines and did so in about 1/2 hour and they are running correctly with no errors.

Partners are a great source of assistance.

There are at least 2 other 3rd party apps involved.  I have never installed/used GP.  I am an Engineer that had to take over help desk duties.  Sounds like we need to get in touch with the company that did the initial install.

Lee, if you are not confortable with the installation - and you have a partner that you can work with - then I think that is a good idea.

    Good luck.
