Depreciation Profiles Disabled for Value Models

I am pretty new to Dynamics and the company I recently joined is using AX 2009. Been busy trying to learn and use the Fixed Asserts Module but finding problems with Depreciation Profile for Value Models. When you set up a new value model for an asset, you are supposed to be able to select a Depreciation Profile but the Depreciation Profile field on my Value models form is disabled. I've also tried editing an existing value model, and the Depreciation Profile field is disabled as well. The Depreciation Profiles for Depreciation Books seems to be working just fine which is why I am even more baffled. What could be the problem? I checked setup parameters and user permissions and didn't see anything helpful there. Thanks!

    Hi baron jere,

Does this happen in a demo/test environment or in a live system?

Do fixed asset depreciations in general work for all other assets?

Can you possibly share a screenprint?

    Many thanks,

    Ludwig

    Hello Dr. Ludwig,

    Really appreciate the prompt response.

The problem is in the Live System. I have been unable to attach the screenshot - this writing space wont allow it. That said, the screen print I was going to attach basically shows the Value Model form in the process of adding a new fixed asset. After ticking/checking the depreciation box, the next thing to do is to select a depreciation profile, which should already be setup (as they are working fine for Depreciation Books form). It is here that I am not getting a drop down of the various Depreciation Profiles. If i try to ignore this, I am then unable to save instead I get the error message "Depreciation Profile does not exist".

Hope I have describe my problem well enough for you to picture it.

    Thanks again.

    Baron

    Hello Baron,

For attaching screensprints, you can make use of the 'use rich formatting' button/form.

In my environment, the value model forms looks as follows

I am able to see, edit and change things as I like.

If you can't then it might be either because of a user rights issue or because of a system modification.

In any case, I would recommend that you talk to one of your system admins who should be able to help you with that issue.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig
