Hello everyone,

Being new in CRM/CE world, may I know how can we automated the CE solutions between DEV - TEST - PROD ? Can I use DevOps to automate this ? Will that be a problem when in my DEV environment have some managed solution which my customization depend on it. I normally import manual for the managed solution as we already have the package in zip file, but hoping I can replace this action with some automation.

As mentioned of being new in CE, I'm not sure I'm correctly put it in word, does Power Platform & Dataverse included in this term ?

Thanks, I think that is make sense, may I know how to do that in DevOps ? to store those zip in my repository and then when deploy, DevOps will pick this file from Repo ?

Do you know any blog with this kind of example ?

Hello,

you can not export Managed solution from Dev. You will have to store those Managed solution zip file in your repository and deploy them using devops by picking up the files from your repo.

Hi,

yes, however there are some managed solutions which my solution (the unmanaged) is dependent with. Ideally when I create new environment, I want these managed solutions also automatically deployed at time I'm deploying my solution.

Or if the managed solution cannot be deployed at the same pipeline, wondering how to make this automate as well, so it is still after this pre-requisites solution imported to the new environment, then my pipeline start to deploying my solution.

As long as the solutin stays on Dev Environment, should be UnManaged. That way, you can perform changes on it. It should change to "managed" when you move/deploy to UAT/Production

Hi Daniel,

Thank you, so for the external link, the Power DevOps Tools is the one now Microsoft named it Power Platform Build Tools I presume ?

And may I ask about those managed solution, will it be a problem ? because based on that blog, I noticed he created a sample solution "EasySolution" in his Dev environment, which I believed it became "unmanaged", to be honest it is hard to see on the picture and I don't know when he export the solution, is it still "unmanaged" ?

Understand in the export step then we have options to export it as managed or unmanaged, but my concern is before it is exported, while still in Dev environment, is the "EasySolution" in managed state ? or all solution that about to be exported using Azure pipeline has to be in "unmanaged" state ?

Short answer: YES, you can use Azure DevOps / Pipelines to deploy to environments on PowerPlatform/Dynamics CRM Online.
