GP PDF function

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Is there any other application or plugin that works when printing a report/document to screen and selecting the send to function to PDF other than Adobe Writer?  I've tested the Office plug in and CutePDF with no success.

thanks,

Debi

Mariano - I know this is an old post, but we have GP v11 and I don't see the option to setup the option to generate PDFs outside of using Word Templates. I would like to be able to generate a PDF from a screen print or by clicking the printer icon and select a PDF option. Or, sent to PDF just like in Word.

How do we set this up?

Thanks for the note.  I have looked at both of those and unless I'm missing something neither allows conversion to PDF from the 'send to' button after printing a report to screen.

Yes there are at least two other products that works with Great Plains for generating PDF files :

The first product is BCL from BCL technologies (http://www.bcltechnologies.com/ ).

It is a contact at Microsoft that refered me to this product.

It come standard with Microsoft FRx Web Port.

But with Great Plain, you have to purchase and install it.

The second product is an open source. It is called PDFCreator.

From the documentation that I've read, it has problems in an environment with Terminal Server Emulation (TSE) which is my case.

Most free PDF writers will work for printing to PDF. However, only Adobe Acrobat Standard or Professional will work for sending PDF reports via email as this functionality is coded to look at the Adobe Acrobat DLL functions. This will all change with v11 due next year and yes, it will work similarly to how the MS Office 2007 works for generating PDFs and XPSs.

Seems very strange to me that the MS Office plug in does not work!

The Adobe writer is the recommended solution.  There are several "knock-offs" that claim to work the same but most do not carry all the functionality.
