Form Read-Only Except Certain Fields based on Teams

I would like to make a whole form read only except certain fields based on teams.  I setup a field security but it still reads the Security Role as read-only.  Is there a way to do this in CRM 2011?

Field level security doesn't really lend it's self to this scenario because you would need to secure every single field and in CRM2011 the system fields are not securable.

Perhaps an alternative approach would be to use role based forms where you make all the fields read only apart from those that that role can edit.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Brownfield,

Here is something which will help you.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks

    Hi Mithilesh,

Yes but the OP wanted to disable the fields based on a team/role - so the approach in that link would require Javascript to examine the role of the current user.

    Hi Scott,

    Yes that's right.

I assume that all fields need to be visible with data by all Teams and certain fields need to be editable by individual Teams (hope that make sense).

    Let me try other way.

Suppose there are 10 fields, Team A wants only First 5 fields editable and other Read Only (but can see the data). Similary Team B wants remaining 5 fields to be editable whereas first 5 Read Only (but can see the data).

If this is the case, creating multiple Forms based on Security Roles won't help as all fields are needed, therefore we need to have one Form (with all fields) and then check the Security Roles and make the fields as read only or editable.

Hope that make sense Scott :)

    Thanks

I was suggesting that all the fields be on all the forms - but those that are not editable are marked as read only in the field properties.
