What are the prerequisites for Extended Pricing? We currently use standard pricing.

Thanks

tongue in cheek - an open mind.

reason - its a lot of set up! even more maintenance.

it can't do cost plus pricing so beware.

what are your reasons for considering switching?

We have customers where the price sheet feature can be an asset. They buy in bulk and the prices may vary, i.e. the distribution area. In our retail we have promotions where this can also benefit us, currently what is done is the items are adjusted from stock.

And yes, from what I have been reading it is a lot of maintenance. We are going to set it up in our test environment and then make the proposal.

    Hi Rosemary

Both excellent reasons to move to extended pricing.  There is nothing that has to be in place per se prior to using it, aside from all the set up that goes along with using it.

It is heavily dependent on a list price.  Make sure that you have such a concept otherwise you will get the message that the item does not have a price set up a lot from SOP.

What exactly is all 'the set up'?

I did not realize how heavily dependent it is on the list price until I made the change in test and received an error message because the item did not have a selling price.

All the set up;  List Price

The premise of extended pricing is that everything has a list price, i.e. a price that Joe who walks in off the street will get charged, the highest selling price that you will have.  This extended price goes in the BASEBOOK.  So if a customer item date combination is not on a price sheet they get the basebook pricing and the errors go away.

You could take the perspective of don't have a basebook and let the error occur as that is then a trigger that someone in sales needs to contact this customer to negotiate pricing.

Thanks very much for your feedback, this has cleared up much. I will work on it in our test and see how it works.

The maintenance mentioned, would this be best dealt with from the Inventory department?

It needs to be inventory and sales together as so much of extended pricing is dependent on the selling price unit of measure date price is valid for combination.
