Sending Emails to Managerial Hierarchy from Workflow.

Hello folks

I am facing a problem for sending emails to Managers from bottom to top hierarchy. I want to achieve it from workflow OOTB.

Example: As soon as I create an opportunity, from every stage change till opportunity closure, I have to send Email notifications to above managers(all above four level managers).

Is it possible to achieve from OOTB Workflows ?

Need help to achieve it from workflows or any other ways

I can think of one quite ugly way to do this, which would be to create 4 extra N:1 relationships between the opportunity and user, for respectively manager level 1 (1st level up), manager level 2 etc. Then the workflow can successively set each new field to the manager of the owner, then manager level 2 = manager of manager level 1, etc.

If you expect the management hierarchy to stay the same during the life of an opportunity, you could just set these fields once, but if the owner or management hierarchy could change, you may need to update these on every stage change

Personally I'd write a custom workflow activity instead

Hello Seshan, Nice!

Create a workflow that triggers on status field change of the opportunity entity. Then add conditional step to check for each condition and add send email step.

In Email step creation, set the 'To" field appropriately to the relevant manager.

Repeat for all different stages/status options you have in your opportunity.

Thank you Wiz, I got the idea from it, I am creating a lookup on user entity and updating it with relevant managers on stage change and sending Emails with recursive workflows.
