Have GP 2010 SP3 running in a RDS environment (4 RDS boxes). Using FastPath to pass login credentials thru to GP from the user's login to the RDS machine.

Have 50+ users... but only have one that is having this problem (has Power User security role).

Before the upgrade to SP3, she became unable to login to GP. When launching GP, the system would pass her credentails thru, it would then start loading the GP window, then a message about applying personal settings... then she would get a Windows dialouge box the GP has stopped working. The only option is "->Close the Program".

When this happened, could not figure out the problem.. other users on the same server were unaffected. Since she does our Payroll, I had to make it work, so I disabled her single sign-on thru fast path and created a new GP/SQL user for her to use. That went fine until today and now her new account is experiencing the same issue.

Any suggestions/ideas would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you were to login into GP as a user that does not have this problem and then while in GP switch to this user having the problem? Does this problem remain? I am trying to remove FastPath from the equation.

1) Are there any third party products installed here?

2) Do other people peformed the same functions or is she the only one who accesses the same screens?

3) Try disabling as many GP desktop items as possible. Perhaps it is one of those items that is locking up.

1) Yesthere are third party products.. Cinch, Integrity-Data, Greenshades, Agworks

2) User does the Payroll/HR functions... she is the only one that does that on a regular basis. Her supervisor would access the same screens, just not as regularly.

3) Are you referring to the "Home Screen"? We already have it pretty basic.

Yes, I am referring to the user's home screen. I would disable it completely.

Then, with no one else in GP, turn on the SQL profiler on the server and have her log in. YOu can filter on just her. Then look at the log and hopefully it will show you where it is hanging.

Kelly,

It's possible the issue is with the Windows user and not the GP user. To rule that out, can you try creating a brand new Windows user and test with that?

We ran into a similar issue when we upgraded to SP3. It was related to Smartlist Reminders and a hotfix that had been deployed. If the user setups a reminder from the smartlist then the login fails without the hotfix chunck file being deployed. Outstanding!! Thanks hmaxey, this fixed my issue.

(Actually, I just deleted the reminders for now to get my user going.. will install the .cnk file during my next maintenance window).

First time to use this forum, and it was a success!!
