Is it possible to write some code that will executed server side on portal page?

Hello,

I want to perform some server side operation when user takes any action on portal page. One way I tried is I am showing Account Entity form with some Javascript code that is basically filtering Branch look up based on Parent account look up, see here - moradiya5.microsoftcrmportals.com/test2

Javascript code is perfectly running on dynamics 365 form, but it is not running on portal page. Is there any different mechanism to run some server side code on portal page?

Regards,

Ashish

    Ashish,

Following article describes how to run server-side code from portal - uds.systems/.../how-to-run-custom-code-in-dynamics-365-portal

Depends on what you need it for - I believe you should still be able to use plugins on update/create/delete/retrieve (or there is that other option Andrew mentioned, but it serves a different purpose)

    Hi Ashish,

I also had the same question a month ago.

Basically, the code which you add in CRM doesn't work in Portals. In your case, you must have added the JS from the XRM Framework which portals doesn't understand. If you want to write some custom logic, you need to write a different code for portal (Other than what you add in CRM)

However, if you have any plugin, custom workflow etc (Server side code) which triggers on certain actions then those will get executed however any error will be displayed in portals as exception.

    Check this thread: community.dynamics.com/.../248324

Talking about your current requirement, if instead of JavaScript you have used the Related record filtering then it would have come up in portals automatically.

    Check this thread: www.powerobjects.com/.../how-to-use-dependent-lookups-for-dynamics-crm-201320152016

If related record filtering doesn't suits your requirement and you have to use JavaScript then in portals you have to write another JavaScript code.
