Finding sales order from sales shipment number

Hi,

In some circumstances our suppliers send us our sales shipment number rather than the sales order number. Is there a way of looking at the open sales order screen and putting in the shipment number and finding the order?

There seems to be the option in the show results filtering section to search by "Shipping No" which from looking at the help for this field seems to imply I put the shipment number in here, but when I try it with a shipment number it displays no results.

I know I can go to posted sales shipments and it will give me the sales order number but then the user will have to write the SO number down from that screen then go into the open sales order screen which is just an extra step in the process.

Is there any way to achieve what I want?

    You can find Order No on Posted Sales Shipment . You can filter by order No

    For Sales Order you can find all shipment posted against that sales order.

    Thanks for your reply - I know I can find these details from the posted sales shipment screen. But I want to be in the list of open sales orders and find it there by using the shipment number so that they can then open the sales order straight away to invoice it

    How do I add the action to open the sales order from the sales shipment? Also if I do this and open the sales order from the sales shipment will the sales order be editable?

    Selina,

    You cannot search from the Order Screen for the shipment No. , you can add an action on the Posted Sales Shipment to open the sales order

    The code is very simple add an action and then add the following lines of code for the action, it will open the order in editable mode.

    IF SalesHeader.GET(SalesHeader."Document Type"::Order,"Order No.") THEN

     PAGE.RUN(PAGE::"Sales Order",SalesHeader)

    Hi Selina,

    In Sales Shipment Header Table you can find the Field called "Order No." which is the link to the respective Order... Now since you know the link from Shipment Document to the Sales Document you can easily filter the required Sales order with this field...

    If you want a button then Just create a Button on the header of Posted Sales Shipment Document and write code in "On Click" Action... This is just the matter of Setrange and Findfirst(for getting the record)...

    If you want to open the Sales Order then you can use...

    If SalesHeaderRec.GET(Document Type"::Order, "Order No.") Then

     PAGE.RUN(PAGE::"Sales Order",SalesHeaderRec)

    ...........................

    You could also add a FlowField to Sales Header table with CalcFormula method of Lookup, but this would be effective in business situations where there is only one shipment per sales order. The field would look like in the screenshot below and you would also need to of course add this field to your Sales Order list page.
