Cannot add column for Smart List

A user is having an issue when he tries to add a column to an AA Smart List.  Here is are the steps to replicate the issue:

  1. He opens the AA Open Transactions Smart List
  2. Clicks on Columns
  3. Clicks Add
  4. Selects the desired column, which is an Available Column
  5. Clicks Ok to accept the new Column
  6. Clicks Ok to display the Smart List
  7. At this point the column never appears, but the Smart List populates with data

Interestingly, in troubleshooting, I asked him to include an OOB field, Originating Credit Amount.  When he did so, and clicked the final Ok, this time no columns appear.  He re-opens Columns, re-adds all Columns including the one he could not add before, and that column is now included.

He is pleased to have a work around, but would really like the Add Column feature to work without the extra steps.

Have any of you seen this before?  Any thoughts on troubleshooting?

He is running GP 2016 RTM.

Thanks.
