Fixed amount prepayment instead of percentage

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi all,

TL;DR at the bottom.

Our company is in the process of switching over to NAV2015 (hopelessly behind schedule).

We produce the items we sell.

Due to the need of testing and quality control, we always over-produce.
The amount lost varies, but in most cases there is some surplus, with a limit of 10%.

Thus, in practice, if a customer orders 100 pieces of an item, he may receive exactly 100 or up to 110 pieces, all of which are invoiced.
We have a bit of customisation to facilitate this.

Whenever a larger amount is set up for delivery, the sales order is automatically adjusted. The original amount ordered is moved to a custom field, and the actual amount is logged as the number to be sold and delivered. This works fine.

However, this conflicts when trying to work with prepayments.
When a prepayment is sent, it calculates a percentage of the invoice or line as prepayment. (100% in our case)
When the number of items to be sold changes however, obviously so does the amount to be prepaid.

TL;DR: My question: is there a way to set a prepayment invoice to a fixed amount without this being a percentage of the total amount of the line or complete order?

    Hello,

A swift and concise answer. Thanks for the hint of looking at the Approval functionality!

If we can't find a way to make do with that, we'll indeed need to speak to our VAR.

    Thank you!

    Hello Leslie

Unfortunately in NAV 2015, the Prepayment functionality is reminiscent to the Line Discount functionality. You can only work with percentages. You should take a look at the "Approval Functionality" to see if you can use that. If not, your VAR will need to create a customization to satisfy this requirement.
