Edit in Excel - side panel (data connector) missing

Hi

we have a few people who have problems editing in Excel.

They can export the data from the quote
After download, the have the obligatory /Enable Editing/

But after clicking /Enable Editing/:
that data does not populate
the side panel (Data Connector) is missing.

As far as I can see, the Microsoft Dynamics Office Add-in is installed
The person is logged into their account
Permission have not changed.

We would be grateful for any suggestion.

Thank you.

Katarina

Which D365 app is it about? You're asking in the general forum, but the question seems to be about a product and not about D365 in general. Is it F&O?

    Hello Katarina,
Would you mind checking two things -
    1. Does user have rights to export the data in the excel? If No, I would request you to please assign the same -

    2. Has the user signed in on the connector? (please refer below screenshot - This is before signing in - I.e., Data is coming blank)

    3. If the user has not signed in, please click on sign in icon shown in above screenshot. Sign in via Business Central's Login. Or your login. Once the login is identified by Excel, System will start a process of fetching the data.

In case if you have query with respect to Add-ins :

You can Click on File Button (Available on Top Left)
Next - Click on Option (Available on Bottom Left)
Next - Click on Add-Ins (Available on Middle Left)
Next - Drop down option is visible with the name " Manage", User selects drop down option, Click on "Disabled Items" to verify if there's any disabled add-ins wrt to Microsoft Dynamics.

i hope these solution helps you out, If not, Please share a screenshot from your end and I'll try to assist you as much as i can.

    Regards
    Karan

    Hi Karan

thank you for the extensive reply.

Yes, the users have permission to edit in Excel

I cannot answer this - as the side panel doesn't even show up so the user doesn't have the option to sign-in. But the add-on is installed.

And we just went to get the screen shot and it is working. I suspect someone "fiddled" with the permissions and told no one.

So thank you to everyone who helped.

Hi, have you tried letting users use Edit in Excel in the browser/web (Excel Online)?
    More details:
Dynamics 365 Business Central: How to use Edit in Excel in the browser/web (Excel Online)

If there is no problem, I suspect it is a local Excel problem. You can try updating or reinstalling and try again.

    Thanks.
    ZHU
