We need to allow a Developer into Business Dynamics 365 to our access our data, with that we need open an API connection or ports.

The problem is, is that we cannot find a way to do this.

Does anyone know how to....

A: Open an API connection and or find more information on the correct API's for this
B: Open ports to allow connection into the database?

The database does not run in SQL or Azure SQL but in Dynamics itself.

    Thank you Roberto,

So i was thrown into BC as the previous company looking after it..... left , and now there are technical questions which i am ill equipped for.

The Premis: The client wants developers to connect into BC and create rich reports, apps and CRM links into a custom app. they need to know things like,

    What is the URL?

Do they connect with a service ID and password or Azure ID and password?

What are the ports they must use?

From what i have researched it seems like Dataverse is the way to correctly get in but not sure.

The system is all SAAS at Microsoft,

    Hi Ben,

Do you want connect with Business Central?

if yes, is it Business Central SaaS (cloud) or onprem (installed in your house)?

if it is SaaS, the ports are opened.

if it is onPrem, you must know the ports that your installer put for this.

In any case, you can see the ports looking for web services:

Here you can read about how you can work with the standard API's available in Business Central if you run Business Central Online.
