Server-Based SharePoint Integration: "Unauthorized"

Posted on by 12,159

Trying to integrate Dynamics 365 (On-Prem) with SharePoint 2013 (On-Prem). As far as I can tell I've followed the documentation to a tee and was able to issue all the powershell commands without error. But once I get to the point of actually running through the Integration wizard I receive a 'Failed Authentication' error and in the resulting Error Log it just says "The remote server returned an error: (401) Unauthorized."

I enabled trace on the CRM side and the only thing I can locate in the log is that same error without any additional info and the SharePoint ULS logs yield no valuable information either.

How can I troubleshoot this?

I think I've traced the issue to the User Profile Sync service not starting in SP 2013 due to an issue with SQL 2014 which apparently was addressed in the June 2014 CU. Will apply over the weekend and discover the results.

    Hi Joe,

    Are the SPNs configured correctly?

    Hi Radu,

Yes, I've tried adding that field to the from and populating with the same email address as the person running the integration, which in this case, is myself. No joy unfortunately.

    Hi Joe,

I think there was a field on the System User entity, called sharepointemailaddress. If not already added, can you please add that to the User Form and make sure that it filled in, with data for the user, with whom you are running the integration wizard?

This needs to be filled in with the exact same email address, that appears in SharePoint for this user.

Then, please try to do the integration again.

    Hope this helps.

    Radu
