One more - He is using Dynamics GP. We want to define Customer ID in Dynamics GP.
I am actually thinking of considering several factors when numbering these customers, especially that the customer segmentation is almost narrow to e-commerce businesses.
Although, I might think of the following categorization to be considered as a suggestion:
All in all, the Customer number will be as follows;
e-commerce type - Branch Code - Customer Name - Serial
As a matter of fact, Amazon Branch in France would be coded as follows
BB-FR-AMZ-001
Hope this helps !
Hi Moh'd,
Much appreciate your response.
Hi Sandip,
The other thing I would do is to document the naming rules as a window note on the customer maintenance window.
Kind regards,
Leslie
The customer numbering sequence - which becomes the Customer ID in GP...could just be sequential numbering?
The analysis could be handled through the customer class ID and the user defined fields.
It would be a lot easier to just code a sequential number for customer ID. So each time a new customer adds themselves - you increase the last number by one - then auto generate the class ID based on location, business sector, customer type etc. This way you can use the class ID to roll down common values during integration [I presume you are using eConnect?] - and you can analyse / report based on the class ID.
Ian.
