Solution import issue "msdynce_service"

Hi,

Can anyone please shed some light onto a solution import issue we have just started experiencing. When trying to import the solution into a new environment we are receiving the following error message:

"Import of solution VSC failed. The following components are missing in your system and are not included in the solution. Import components and then try importing this solution again."

Display Name Name/Id Type Managed Solution Required by
Account (All Contacts) All Accounts View msdynce_Service (9.0.3.71) Account (All Contacts)
Contact (All Contacts) All Contacts View msdynce_Service (9.0.3.71) Contact (All Contacts)

The only reference we can find to "msdynce_service" is https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/dynamics365/customer-engagement/web-api/msdynce_service?view=dynamics-ce-odata-9

But this provides no information on how to add this to your solution??

Has anyone else experienced this issue and can any you please provide any insight into how we resolve this issue??

Many thanks,

Steve.

    Hello Steve,

What solution do you try to import?

    Hi Andrew,

We are trying to import our solution into one of our Non-Producton instances. We have successfully imported this into two other non-production instances during our development build phase of the project. However now after resetting one of the instances we get this error message. We have also tried deleting this instance and re-configuring it and we get the same error message.

But we can still successfully import our solution into two other instances.

    It does not make sense.

We have a Service Request open with Microsoft but no resolution yet.

Any insights you might have would be most appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Steve.

    Steve,

I'm afraid that Microsoft Support is your last resort in case this is your solution.

Do you have this msdynce_Service solution in your dev environment (where you exported solution from)?

    Andrew,

Very good question. When I look at the Den instance and specifically "manage your solutions" I do not even see msdynce_Service in the list. We just have "Dynamics 365 Sales Application,Metablast,OData v4 Data Provider" in our Dev right now.

Do you know of any other way that we can validate that msdynce_Service does in fact exist in Dev ???

    Thanks,

    Steve.

    Hi Steve

What version is your system currently at? There appears to have been a serious issue with CRM4 last week where v9.0.1.127 was corrupted in some way. This appears to have been resolved after last nights update to 9.0.1.425 (most probably a data caching issue that was causing the problem) but the issue you mention is still there for imports.

We had this last week whilst trying to review the problem by taking out solution into a development server and getting the exact same problem and since this is a Microsoft solution (which you cannot access when using D365 Online) we just need to wait until they fix it.

    Are you using CRM4?

I'd report it as Andrew says though. You can use the shiny new reporting server at admin.dynamics.com for this.

    Hello Steve,

The component are missing listed in your question are views. You need to check how those views are not included in your exported solution. You can include those views in your solution and export again.Try to import new solution. This is because dynamics CRM validating your solution before import to new environment and the missing view are defined your solution but not included.

You need to go to Account and Contact entity in your old environment and add the listed view in the solution and export again.

    Hi Andrew & Steven,

    Thanks for your suggestions.

My team has just finished a support call with Microsoft and we have resolved the issue.

We removed the “All Accounts” and “All_Contacts” views that showed a dependency to the “msdyn_service” managed solution.

As there were 2 of each of these views, we checked their dependencies to find the appropriate one to delete.

We also understand from the partner that we are working with that they experienced the same issue with another customer.

Anyway, issue resolved and I thought I would pass along to help others.

    Thanks,

    Steve.

    Hi Steve,

I am having same issue with import error. When you said, you removed the views, these are system views. Do we remove from the exported solution manually?

    Hi Rabi

Not sure if you've been able to resolve this but were I found the problem to lie was in the Dashboards within the Contact and Accounts entity. There is a reference there to one of the streams (it's an Interactive Dashboard) and if you highlight the Dashboard and choose Show Dependencies, we found that under Required components we had the Views in questions being referenced from the Service solution.

All we done was update the stream in the Dashboard to use the non Service solution view (there is no way to know which All Contacts or All Accounts is correct but if you have more than one available then choose the one that is not highlighted in the dropdown).

Once you publish the Dashboard the other View is removed from Dependencies and you should be able to export/import after this...if the problem is in relation to the Dashboards. If it's not, can you post an image of the error received so we can see which area of your solution is throwing the error.

    Thanx

I did not have two views with same name but as the views were the cause of the problem,  I deleted both dashboards on account and contact and I can import solution without any error. Thanks for your quick response.
