Update Delivery Remainder after Sales Order Confirmation

(0) ShareShare

In standard sales order cycle delivery remainder gets updated (Ordered quantity - Reserved quantity) after delivery note is posted. But my client needs to update delivery remainder after sales order confirmation (Considering after SO confirmation the sales line would become non-editable). I believe that incorporating this requirement might affect some standard processes.

Is it advisable to deviate standard SO process behavior this way? It would be great if by any chance you have an idea of the impacts of this customization.

Thanks in advance.

    Hello Kunal,

I am in line with your concern that such a customization might cause trouble elsewhere. Some areas that I see potentially influence are MasterPlanning. Yet, also your sales might run into problems if you directly update/reduce the delivery remainder with every created and confirmed sales orders. The overall effects that you see depend on the modules and functionalities that you use. A good way to find out is making this modification in a test system and then running some integration tests on this machine.

    Best regards,

    Ludwig

    Hi Kunal,

The deliver remainder is updated as soon as you enter the line. I don't have access to AX2012 environment and in D365 it's still shows delivery remainder right after entering the line.

can you check it again and share some screen prints as well.

    Thanks,

    Hi Satish,

Yes you're right. Delivery remainder gets updated right after entering the line.

Please consider the following scenario for understanding my concern:

    Process cycle: Sales Order

    Ordered quantity: 10

    Reserved quantity: 7

    Before confirmation:

    Reserved quantity: 7

Delivery remainder: 10 (Entire ordered quantity: As items haven't been shipped yet)

    After confirmation:

    Reserved quantity: 7

Delivery remainder: 10 (Entire ordered quantity: As items haven't been shipped yet)

    After delivery note:

    Reserved quantity: 0

Delivery remainder: 3 (Ordered quantity- Reserved quantity: Remaining would be shown, as reserved quantity has now been delivered)

    Concern:

My client needs this delivery remainder to be updated with value 3 (Ordered quantity- Reserved quantity) after sales order confirmation (Considering the fact the SO won't get modified after confirmation: Would be set false to edit).

Is it advisable to accommodate this change? Any impacts this change might have on ongoing standard AX processes?

Please let me if anything is unclear.

    Thanks in advance.
