Thanks Jaroslaw. We can directly add variants so we are not stuck but I must have spent hours on this trying to find out if I was missing some configuration

Yes, you are right. We have detected it today that Warranty doesn't work for Product with Variants in case when:
1. Enter only Product Master
2. Enter Catalog with Product master
3. Enter Product variant
It will work if you enter Product master with Variant in column Product:
We will register code defect for it.

Thanks for responding. Microsoft said warranty is working with normal product and variants only. If you add product master or category it will not work and this could be a bug.

I have tested this scenario in base version AX10.0.16 and it works correctly.
If you configure Tracking dimension group for Serial number with only Active in sales process then it seems to work correctly.
In POS user is requested to enter Serial number for selected Product and Warranty is set to transaction.
Please open support ticket and we would analyze it.
